MAFAD, the abbreviation of the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts and Design, is in the new visual identity written in lithographic pencil over the well designed former logo. Concept and handwriting are by Boy Bastiaens, who was asked to take care of the new creative direction: "it was a unique opportunity to stay away from the standard logo-redesign procedure as the concept fits perfectly to the character of an art institute. To keep this idea vibrant each year the signature of the new name will be drawn by a recognized artist or designer who studied at the academy or someone who has a special relation with the school". The website mafad.nl, made in collaboration with Vagebond, is launched in Milano, Italy during the MAFAD presentation at the Salone del Mobile 2015.
